Purpose of this site

The purpose of this site is to provide information about the surname BRINKLEY. I currently have information posted about my line of BRINKLEYs which is primarily from North Carolina. The farthest back BRINKLEY I have is William BRINKLEY who married Frances. I am guessing William BRINKLEY was born around 1750, somewhere in North Carolina.

I have received information from people that have traced their BRINKLEY ancestors to North Carolina. Some of my contacts have made a link with my data others have not. However, I feel that those other groups of BRINKLEYs without a direct connection do have a link somewhere with my BRINKLEYs. My goal is to try to pool all BRINKLEY information together and uncover the hidden links between these seemingly unrelated groups of BRINKLEYs. In this spirit of sharing information I have set up a message board to post messages from people researching any line of BRINKLEYs.

Other than North Carolina BRINKLEYs I have gotten email from people with BRINKLEYs in Tennessee, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Louisiana.

One question which I often get is am I related to David BRINKLEY the news commentator. Currently, I have not seen any sort of link made with him. All I really know is that he is from Wilmington in New Hanover County North Carolina. I have heard rumors that a BRINKLEY relative of mine contacted him but a link was not established. However, I have not been able to verify that.
